When police arrived on scene, Grims’ body was still under Mitchell’s vehicle.

According to court documents, Mitchell told police she was driving and went “blank” and could tell she had hit something with her vehicle, but then sped off until she arrives in the middle of the road where she stopped. Mitchell also claimed she passed out from fatigue and heard something dragging under her vehicle.

According to court documents, Mitchell called Grims a “bug-a-boo” and that he was still having relationships with other people while she tried to remain a mediator.

Authorities recovered surveillance video that depicted a different version of the story than Mitchell initially told them.

According to police documents and surveillance video, around 4:16 a.m., Mitchell was seen taking down her tent and putting away her vehicle. Shortly after, she assaulted Grims and chased him with her car, attempting to run him over. At 4:29 a.m., Grims was seen near the Chevron gas station involved in a verbal altercation with several men. At 4:32 a.m., Mitchell drove toward the group at a high rate of speed, causing Grims to flee. Mitchell got out of her vehicle, assaulted Grims again, then ran him over with her car. The men tried to stop her, but she took off, dragging Grims under her vehicle until she stopped on Cullen Boulevard.
