Swimmer missing at Twin Lakes YMCA in Cedar Park

Police believe there were no lifeguards on duty at the time of the incident.

CEDAR PARK, Texas – A teenager is dead after an apparent drowning accident in a lake in Cedar Park.

Multiple agencies responded to reports of a missing swimmer in the lake behind the YMCA in Cedar Park Saturday afternoon.

After hours of searching, authorities found the body of the missing 15-year-old.

According to police, the teen was swimming with a group of friends in the lake behind the Twin Lakes Family YMCA when he suddenly got into distress. They also said they did not believe lifeguards were on duty at the time of the incident.

“I would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest condolences to the family,” said Lt. Justin Miller of the Cedar Park Police Department. “This is a terribly tragic incident and we are doing everything we can to provide support to the family during this terrible incident.”

Police said Texas game wardens are investigating the incident.
