Investigations lead to the arrest of two people for cocaine possession

MONONA, Wis. (WMTV) – An investigation that began last week led to the arrest of two people on Tuesday for cocaine possession, Monona police report.

Police said an investigation into illegal drug trafficking was launched after officers found nearly a kilogram of cocaine at a retail store in Monona. MOPD said the cocaine was linked to a customer.

The investigation led officers to obtain search warrants for a nearby Madison apartment complex. The police’s Community Response Team (CRT) conducted the search and arrested two people on Tuesday.

A 32-year-old Madison woman was arrested on charges of illegal possession of cocaine (>40 grams) with intent to resell as an accessory. MOPD says the woman was being tried in a Dane County assault and disorderly conduct case at the time of the incident.

A 56-year-old Madison man was arrested on charges of illegal possession of cocaine (> 40 grams) with intent to resell as an accessory. According to MOPD, the man has a previous conviction for cocaine trafficking and served 14 years in a federal prison.
