15-year-old dirt bike rider Amelia Kotze dies after accident in the middle of the race

A teenager has died as a result of fatal injuries sustained during a dirt bike race in Australia.

Amelia Kotze15, suffered an accident while competing in the Central Coast Cup on May 25. Emergency services flew the teenager by helicopter to a children’s hospital, where she fought for her life in intensive care before being pronounced dead on May 28, 7News Australia reported.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the tragic passing of rider Amelia Kotze,” Motorcycling New South Wales said in a statement the following day. “Amelia, a much loved member of our motorcycle community, succumbed to injuries sustained during the Central Coast Cup on May 25. She passed away last night at the tender age of 15.”

The statement continued: “Amelia was more than just a rising star in the dirt track world; she was a model of talent, determination and sportsmanship. Her impressive accomplishments spoke volumes about her dedication to the sport.”
