Pender County man sentenced to 30 years in prison for child rape

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Pender County man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the rape of a child.

Nicholas Moore pleaded guilty to three counts of rape of a child by an adult, three counts of^st degree of rape of minors, four cases of sexual abuse, ten cases of 1^st Degree of sexual exploitation of a minor, five counts 3^rd First-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and six counts of peeping tom.

Moore will have to serve between 360 and 552 months in prison, or at least 30 years.

“This case is every parent’s nightmare,” said Attorney General Josh Stein. “I applaud the work of the Pender County Sheriff’s Office in investigating these gruesome crimes and the Carousel Center in their advocacy for these children. I also thank the attorneys in my Special Prosecution Unit for their hard work to achieve this resolution. Most of all, I want to thank the victims who have come forward to ensure that this abuser is held accountable and can no longer hurt anyone. I pray that today’s news brings victims a sense of justice and closure so they can move on.”
