Salt Plains Park employee dies in UTV accident | News

JET, Oklahoma – A Salt Plains State Park employee was killed in a UTV accident at the park near Jet on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

20-year-old Alissa Harding died in the off-road vehicle accident.

Chase Horna spokesman for the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department confirmed the accident, Harding’s employment and her death.

Harding worked at Salt Plains State Park for a year and seven months before her death.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of one of our park employees over the weekend,” said Shelley ZumwaltExecutive Director of the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department. “Our deepest condolences go out to her family and all of our employees affected by this tragedy.”

According to Horn, park rangers responded to the accident.

The Enid News & Eagle has filed an open records request with the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department to obtain a copy of the park ranger’s report on the incident.

Harding graduated from Timberlake High School in 2023.

A celebration of Harding’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Faith Church in Meno.
