Kansas man dies in ATV accident

SHAWNEE COUNTY – A Kansas man died in a crash in Shawnee County shortly after 3 p.m. Monday.

According to Deputy Abigail Christian, an ATV driven by Edward T. Johnson, 43, of Topeka, was traveling south on NW Valencia Road when his ATV left the road at the curve.

A passerby found Johnson unconscious next to the ATV and called 911. The caller attempted to resuscitate him until police arrived and continued life-saving measures. Firefighters and medical personnel arrived and transported Johnson to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The accident remains under investigation.
