Man seriously injured, dog killed in accident at corner of North Jefferson Street and East Judd Street in Woodstock, Illinois: Fire Department

WOODSTOCK, Ill. (WLS) – A man was seriously injured and his dog is dead after they were hit by a car in the northern suburbs Monday afternoon, fire officials said.

According to the Woodstock Fire and Rescue Department, the accident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. at the corner of North Jefferson and East Judd Streets.

Woodstock firefighters and police officers responded to the accident and found a man, who fire officials said was an elderly man, with serious injuries.

The man was flown by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The man’s small dog was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver involved in the accident reported no injuries.

Rail traffic on the Union Pacific line was suspended and remained closed until at least 4 p.m.

Woodstock police are investigating the accident. No further information was immediately available.
