Right-wing ‘Reacher’ fans freak out after Alan Ritchson calls Trump a ‘rapist and conman’

“Reacher” star Alan Ritchson is currently attracting a lot of attention because he said some harsh words about Donald Trump and his supporters.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published earlier this month, the action star explained why he is confused by Christians supporting the former president.

“Christians today have become a very spiteful tribe,” said Ritchson, who describes himself as a follower of Jesus. “It’s so contrary to what Jesus called us to be and to do.”

“Trump is a rapist and a fraud,” he continued. “And yet the entire Christian church seems to treat him as if he were their poster boy. That’s unrealistic. I don’t understand it.”

Ritchson’s comments went largely unnoticed by right-wingers until Sebastian Gorka, a former member of Trump’s cabinet, addressed the interview in a segment of his radio show “America First” last week.

During his more than five-minute rant, Gorka told Ritchson to “shut up” when it came to “political views” and “keep on acting.”

Many conservatives seemed outraged by Ritchson’s comments and vowed to boycott the movie “Reacher,” about a muscular, vagabond ex-army cop with a penchant for vigilantism.

While the backlash from the MAGA sect was loud, there were also many people who applauded the star for speaking his mind.

The series is based on the bestselling book series “Jack Reacher” by Lee Child and was an undeniable success for Amazon.

Last December, the second season of “Reacher” debuted at number 2 on the Nielsen streaming charts with a total of 1.2 billion minutes of viewing.
