Police investigate shooting at Mount Trashmore

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A girl died and a man was injured in shootings at Mount Trashmore on Saturday, Virginia Beach police said.

According to police, the girl died in hospital.

Police were notified at 8:31 p.m. of the shooting in the 300 block of Edwin Drive – the location of Mount Trashmore – just outside the summer carnival area.

The VBPD said that “due to the proximity of the carnival, units were quickly on scene and rendered aid, secured the scene, filtered out an exorbitant amount of traffic and began searching for suspects. This is a chaotic crime scene that will take some time to investigate.”

“I heard people talking about all kinds of fights and stuff like that,” said a man who declined to give his name. “So, I’m standing out there and not two minutes later I hear a gunshot, a couple of people running towards me… and more gunshots across the street. And after that, a couple more fights broke out.”

There is a Summer Carnival An event was taking place there, which was scheduled to run from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday evening.
