Suspect arrested for gun theft;  Police looking for owner |  News, sports, jobs

A 22-year-old man who has been investigated several times for gun theft is behind bars and police are looking for the owners of the guns.

According to the Altoona Police Department’s Facebook page, Michael Davis III of Altoona was taken into custody on May 10 in one case and now faces charges in a second case. Police have released photos showing Davis holding multiple handguns and claim the photos were recovered from Davis’ cell phone based on a search warrant.

Two of the firearms Davis owned were confirmed to have been stolen from vehicles, police said.

In the first case, Davis is charged with receiving stolen property, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of a firearm (duty of other persons) and a misdemeanor count of prohibited possession of a firearm. According to online court documents, these allegations stem from an incident on February 1st.

He is being held in the Blair County Jail on $75,000 bail, according to the report.

On Wednesday, Davis was charged with theft, receiving stolen property, firearm possession – duty to another person, criminal attempt – firearm possession and criminal use of a communication facility, as well as a misdemeanor count of prohibited firearm possession.

These allegations stem from an incident on Dec. 31, online documents show. Davis has yet to be charged on these charges.
