British holidaymaker, 26, sexually assaulted by fellow tourist during a party with friends at a luxury hotel in Marbella

A British holidaymaker has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman at a hotel on the Costa del Sol.

The 27-year-old man was taken into custody after the 26-year-old woman said she was attacked in an attack luxury Hotel in Puerto Banus near Marbella.

The hotel was not named.

She claimed she was sexually assaulted while partying with friends after they met at a nearby beach club.

The woman was taken to hospital for a medical examination.

The suspect was arrested shortly afterwards.

Police have not yet made any official comment.

It wasn’t immediately clear this morning whether the Briton has already appeared in court and whether he has been remanded in custody or released on bail pending the investigation.

Earlier this month, an RAF soldier was arrested in Mallorca after a Briton accused him of raping her in a four-star hotel in Magaluf.

He was released and allowed to fly back to Britain.

However, he remains under investigation after his accuser failed to uphold her police complaint before a judge.

Earlier this month, a British teenager was reportedly raped in a bar in Crete.

The 16-year-old girl was attacked after leaving her parents to go to the toilet.

After reviewing CCTV footage from the venue and other bars in the area, police were able to identify the man.

Greek police have launched a search for the suspected perpetrator.

Another British tourist has been raped in a horrific attack in Benidorm.

The woman was repeatedly raped by three men after they kidnapped her from a pub.

The attackers were each sentenced to over eight years in prison after being found guilty of the crime following a trial in an Alicante court.
