Charlotte’s police chief presents the Wells Fargo championship trophy

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Wells Fargo Championship was a special tribute to the four officers killed in Charlotte in April.

After Rory McIlroy’s dominant triumph in the tournament ended, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings arrived by helicopter to present the trophy to the winner.

“Our department looks forward to this tournament every year and we appreciate the continued support of our law enforcement,” Jennings said in a social media post.

The PGA Tour announced a $125,000 donation to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Foundation in honor of the four officers.
