Person self-transported to Houston hospital after being shot in the back

A person was taken to West Oaks Urgent Care Center in west Houston after being shot in the back in a high school parking lot.

According to Houston Police Lt. Larry Crowson, officials believe the victim was part of a group playing with a gun inside a car parked in the Hastings High School parking lot. After the gun accidentally fired and hit the person in the back, someone called 9-1-1 and the victim was taken to the emergency room.

The ages and identities of the individuals involved are not known at this time, and we have not determined whether or not these individuals were students at the school where the shooting occurred.
