1 dead, 1 hospitalized after crash in Warwick

WARWICK, RI (WPRI) – An investigation is underway after two people were struck by cars within moments of each other in Warwick on Sunday evening.

Police Chief Col. Bradford Connor told 12 News that officers responded to a 911 call around 9:40 p.m. after a woman hit a person on Quaker Lane.

According to Connor, police believe the woman stopped and called the police and was hit by a car.

The vehicle fled the scene of the accident, Connor said.

The first person to be hit was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman who was hit next was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.

This incident is under investigation.
