Morphine Love Dion speaks out

Morphine Love Dion suffered “multiple injuries” but is now recovering.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Star Morphine Love Dion suffered multiple injuries after being involved in a fatal car crash in Los Angeles early Sunday morning.

The participant of the 16th season, 27, and Canada’s Drag Race Season three star Kaos, 30, was involved in a car crash on Highway 10 in LA’s Jefferson Park neighborhood, according to local news channel ABC7. At least four other people were injured in the crash and one person died.

The California Highway Patrol reportedly responded to a single-vehicle crash that turned into a pileup around 3:30 a.m. One person was trapped in their car and later died of their injuries, the CHP told local news.

Morphine and Kaos, who were in the area to attend RuPaul’s DragCon LA, an annual convention for drag entertainers, confirmed their involvement in the accident via social media.

“Morphine was in a serious car accident while traveling in an Uber,” read a statement posted to Morphine’s official Instagram story Monday afternoon. “She sustained multiple injuries but is thankful to be alive. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Some space and time is welcome for her as she focuses on her recovery.”

Kaos also posted an Instagram story on Monday, confirming they were involved in an accident and had to stay on bed rest. “Just so everyone knows I’m fine, I just had to stay on bed rest. I will write a post explaining what happened this weekend once I’m back in the right frame of mind and can also explain everything and the accident,” they wrote. “Right now I’m resting and sorry I won’t be posting any Dragcon stuff at the moment either, that will come later, probably next week!”

Morphine’s sisters from season 16 also shared updates on their friends’ status. Xunami Muse shared on X (formerly Twitter) that everyone was “fine” and “recovering” from the accident. “She and everyone else involved are doing well. This has been the most horrific two days ever but we are so happy they are all with us and recovering,” the Miss Congeniality winner wrote. Geneva Karr also chimed in, sharing Morphine’s post on her Instagram story and writing, “Surgery went well and now here’s to a speedy recovery, love, Hermana.”
