Paris Saint-Germain suspends contract to sign Nigerian Victor Osimhen

Negotiations between Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli regarding Victor Osimhen have stalled after the French champions initially expressed interest in signing the Nigerian striker.

Osimhen had a subpar season last season, falling short of expectations as Inter Napoli overtook the Scudetto.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the impasse in a post on his X-handle, writing: “Paris Saint-Germain will not pay the clause and talks are on hold at current conditions, no chance of involving Kang-in Lee.

“Osimhen could also consider offers from the Saudi League, as Napoli want a replacement for Lukaku.”

The Partenopei’s disastrous 2023/24 season contributed to a decline in the number of suitors vying for Osimhen’s signature, but PSG remained interested in his services.

But now the Parisians are slowly backing out: the striker’s release clause is currently at 130 million euros.

Three PSG players, Carlos Soler, Nordi Mukiele and Lee Kang-in, were reportedly put on the table in a player-plus-cash deal. But PSG have now taken a step back.

PSG are believed to be the only interested club at the moment but will not proceed under the current circumstances despite losing star Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid.

However, Aurelio De Laurentiis and Co. know how important it is to make money with Osimhen, as he still has two years left on his contract with Napoli.

The former Lille and Wolfsburg centre-forward last signed an extension in the winter of 2023.
