Sonora, California – A Phoenix Lake Estate man was arrested last week in Tuolumne County on child pornography charges

On Thursday, July 11, Sheriff Investigations Division officers and detectives, with a search warrant in hand, raided the home of the suspect, 73-year-old Michael Kenneth Matheson. Sheriff’s officials reported, “His arrest was related to an ongoing Child Sexual Assault Material (CSAM) investigation. The investigation resulted from an online tip regarding an individual who had obtained this material via the Internet.”

The use of multiple warrants to identify the location and individual responsible for requesting and receiving pornographic material from an online source led to the arrest of Matheson at his home. The investigation led investigators to the home of 73-year-old Michael Kenneth Matheson. He was arrested and charged with possession of obscene/child pornography. There is no information on whether any local children were featured in the pornographic material. Sheriff’s officials say this investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
