Employee dies in work accident, Anderson officials investigate

An employee of the Anderson Regional Joint Water System apparently died in an industrial accident, according to officials.

Anderson County officials are assisting the Anderson County Coroner’s Office after receiving a call from the Anderson Regional Joint Water System on Thursday morning, July 18.

According to investigators, the victim appears to have suffered an electric shock in an accident at work.

A crime scene has now developed around 512 Vanguard Road and officers will continue to work with the coroner’s office to investigate the incident.

The facility currently employs 21 people.

“The employee was working on the remote station HVAC unit at a Clemson pumping station on Vanguard Road,” said Assistant Director Jeff Caldwell. “This is the first time an incident of this nature has ever occurred.”
