Louisiana State Police and FBI investigation leads to arrest of Gonzales man on child pornography charges

GONZALES, Louisiana (BRPROUD) – A Gonzales man has been arrested and charged following a recent investigation by the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit.

Benton R. Bateman, 48, was charged with five counts of possession of pornography featuring a minor.

Louisiana State Police said they began their investigation into the possession of child pornography in March of this year. They said investigators went to a home owned by Bateman on Tuesday, July 16, and executed search and arrest warrants.

Bateman was arrested and taken to the Ascension Parish Jail.

According to LSP, the investigation is still ongoing.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted in this investigation.
