Stanley Cup Comes to Western New York

The Stanley Cup is coming to Western New York next week!

Rick Dudley is a Western New York native who has been playing, coaching or managing NHL teams since 1969. That’s a long time. He’s 75 years old and he FINALLY won a Cup with the Florida Panthers. When a team wins the Stanley Cup, everyone in the organization gets a chance to bring it back to their hometown.

Dudley brings the Stanley Cup to Lewiston, where he has lived for 20 years, and residents of Western New York are invited to come take a look and tour the Stanley Cup.

“I don’t know how to describe it,” he said. “I’m not one to get upset. I’ve won championships before. I’ve never been one to get upset, roll around, dance and dance.”

Dudley, who has lived in Lewiston for 20 years, might leave that to others Tuesday when he enjoys his day with the Cup at Griffon Brewery and Gastropub at 118 S. Water St. in Lewiston.

“It’s been my home for a long time now,” he said. “It just seemed like the right place to do it.”

Well, it won’t be around forever, so feel free to go check it out and take some pictures with it. Maybe it will bring us luck. Wink.
