Chinn Park Rec Center swimming instructor accused of multiple sexual assaults of teenager: police

Daniel Smith, 72, of Woodbridge, a former instructor at Chinn Park Recreation Center, was arrested this week and charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault following an investigation into allegations of abuse by a then-13-year-old girl.

According to Prince William County Police, the investigation began in June when a teenager reported multiple incidents of sexual assault that occurred between April and May 2022.

According to police, the child was sexually abused more than once during swimming lessons by Smith, a swimming instructor at the facility.

Smith was identified as a suspect, arrested on Sunday, July 14, and charged with sexual assault.

He is being held without bail until his next court date.
