Man shot while trying to steal a US Marshal’s car, police say

Washington, D.C. police are investigating a shooting early Friday in which two U.S. Marshals shot a man who tried to carjack one of them.

Washington, D.C. police are investigating a shooting early Friday in which two U.S. Marshals shot a man who tried to carjack one of them.

According to the police report, deputy U.S. Marshals were parked in various vehicles in the 2100 block of 11th Street NW at around 1:15 a.m. when Kentrell Flowers, 18, of Southeast, got out of a nearby vehicle and pointed a handgun at one of the marshals.

The marshal responded by drawing his service weapon and firing “several shots” at Flowers, a press release said.

A second marshal nearby responded and fired his service weapon, DC police said.

Flowers was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, no officers were injured in the incident.

The shooting is currently being investigated by the Force Investigations Team of the Washington DC Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division, which investigates all shootings in the District involving police officers. The shooting will then be reviewed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
