Reports of a woman falling from her porch lead to two arrests in Portage, according to police

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Two Portage men were arrested Friday after one of them allegedly hit a woman and threw her off a porch, Portage police report.

According to a Facebook post from Portage PD, officers responded to the 1000 block of Macfarlane Road around 9:15 p.m. in the city of Portage on reports of a woman being assaulted.

According to police, the man who attacked the woman was found in a downtown bar.

When the police tried to talk to him, he ran away. He was eventually taken into custody and transported to the Columbia County Jail.

As police investigated the suspect, they learned that he was a convicted felon and was reportedly in possession of a firearm.

Officers executed two separate search warrants at the suspect’s home and found several items, including a short-barreled firearm and drug paraphernalia.

During the execution of the search warrants, a second person was taken into custody.

A 28-year-old Portage man is facing numerous charges, including assault and possession of a firearm.

A 24-year-old Portage man is facing numerous charges, including possession of a short-barreled rifle.
