Toddler flown out by helicopter after near-drowning accident at West Point Lake – CNAW 2 with Colin Scroggins

A toddler is in an Atlanta hospital after nearly drowning in West Point Lake in Troup County.

Deputies, along with other first responders, were dispatched to Yellow Jacket Beach on West Point Lake at 6:22 p.m. on July 1, 2024, regarding a possible drowning.

“While officers were on scene, dispatch reported that the victim, a three-year-old child, had been pulled from the water and local residents had begun CPR,” authorities said.

When officers and other first responders arrived on scene, they began life-saving efforts on the child. The child was flown by helicopter to a hospital near Atlanta, where we believe he is still receiving treatment.

“This appears to be a tragic accident,” they added.
