Murder investigation underway: Elderly Olathe woman found with “significant injuries”

OLATHE, Kansas (KCTV) – Authorities are investigating the suspected murder of a 72-year-old woman after she was found dead in an Olathe residence Saturday night.

On June 29, shortly before 6 p.m., Olathe Police officers were dispatched to a home in the 1000 block of East Oakview Street.

When officers arrived, they found a 72-year-old woman unresponsive and suffering from unspecified but “significant” injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Olathe police said a relative of the woman, a 40-year-old man, was taken into custody and remanded in custody for 48 hours. The case remains under investigation as a homicide.

The woman’s family has been notified and authorities believe there is no further danger to the public.
