Atlanta Braves Probable Pitchers and Starting Lineups vs. New York Yankees, June 23

The Atlanta Braves offense woke up during the last week of baseball. Although they were slowed by Marcus Stroman and company last night, the Braves have a chance to leave the Bronx with a series victory if they can win this afternoon’s rubber match behind Max Fried.

These will be most of the Braves’ regulars this afternoon, but the Yankees had to reshuffle their roster a bit by moving Giancarlo Staton to the injured list. Let’s hope that the left-handed Braves are out again because they will face a tricky Yankees pitcher to say the least.

Max Fried (6-3, 3.11 ERA) has certainly had some “all mixed up” hitters this season as he enters with the 12th best ERA in the National League. Oddly enough, Fried will be making his fourth straight start against an American League team. In his career, Max has an 11-3 record, 2.32 ERA, and 113 strikeouts in his career against AL teams. Let’s hope this afternoon is more magical than Max Fried.

Nestor Cortés (4-5, 3.36 ERA) is known in baseball as the genius left-hander who uses different deliveries to keep hitters off balance. He does a great job of limiting walks and throwing the kitchen sink at hitters. Cortes is coming off an excellent performance against the powerful Orioles, in which he threw six shutout innings in a Yankees victory. Hopefully left-handed mashers like Ozuna, Albies, Riley and Duvall can get one of those hittable fastballs and continue the slugfest streak.
