FIR filed against Prajwal Revanna’s brother for alleged sexual assault

Bengaluru, June 23 (IANS) – The Karnataka Police on Saturday night filed an FIR against Suraj Revanna, grandson of JD (S) MLC and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, and summoned him to the police station for questioning. The case was reportedly reported by a JD (S) worker on charges of sexual assault, police said.

Suraj Revanna has arrived at the Holenarasipura Rural police station and is being questioned by the police.

Police sources do not rule out the possibility of Suraj Revanna being arrested during the investigation.

Police have filed an FIR against Suraj Revanna under sections 377 (unnatural sexual intercourse), 342 (release) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The victim in this case had sent his complaint to both the DGP’s office and the Hassan Police Commissioner.

After receiving a copy of the complaint, the police transferred the case to the Holenarasipur Rural police station.

The police had contacted the victim in connection with the alleged case of sexual assault and recorded his statement.

The police also took the victim for a medical examination.

According to sources, the victim is being taken to Bengaluru for medical examinations on his request.

Reacting to this development, Suraj Revanna said it was a political conspiracy against him and he had no idea how long it would last.

“Baseless allegations are being made against me and I strongly deny these allegations. The matter will be resolved legally and an FIR will also be filed against the victim.”

“There must be an investigation and then the truth will come out. I trust in the law of the land. This is a conspiracy and I will not comment on it today. I will not point fingers at anyone. The investigation is underway and the truth will come out. The people of the state will know the truth,” he added.

The victim claimed that she met Suraj Revanna at an event organized by him.

Suraj Revanna was impressed by his organizational skills, reportedly gave out his cell phone number and started sending tender messages with love symbols.

He was invited to a meeting at his farm where he was allegedly sexually abused.

Suraj Revanna’s elder brother and former JD (S) MP Prajwal Revanna was arrested in connection with the sex video scandal.

His father, JD (S) MLA HD Revanna, was arrested in a kidnapping case related to the sex video scandal and released on bail.

His mother, Bhavani Revanna, is under investigation in a kidnapping case and the court recently granted her conditional bail.

The Karnataka Police have also filed a case of extortion against two people after Suraj Revanna was sexually assaulted.

Suraj Revanna’s assistant Shivakumar filed a complaint against the victim and his relatives at the Holenarasipura police station.

Shivakumar said in the complaint that false allegations were made against Suraj Revanna to extort money.

The complaint alleged that the accused had threatened Suraj Revanna that he would file a sexual assault complaint against him if he did not pay Rs 50 million.

Police have registered a case under sections 384 (extortion) and 584 (criminal intimidation) of the International Penal Code (IPC).
