Weather warning Sunday – fire hazard | Weather

Weather Warning – Sunday 1pm to 8pm…Gusty winds (30-40 mph) and very high fire risk.

Fire Weather Warning – Sunday afternoon-evening

Sunny and hot tonight with temperatures between 30 and 35 degrees. A few clouds tonight with lows between 10 and 15 degrees. Saturday afternoon partly sunny, hot, dry and with breezy winds, highs between 35 and 38 degrees! Sunday mostly sunny and windy with gusts of 48 to 65 km/h. Gusty winds, low humidity and dry vegetation lead to a high to very high fire risk this weekend.

A warm front will brush the Olympic Peninsula Saturday afternoon, increasing the pressure gradient in the region. This will produce a brisk afternoon wind of 15-20 mph. A dry cold front will quickly follow on Sunday, producing gusty winds in eastern WA/OR. The only chance of rain will be in the northern Cascades. Behind the front, it will be cooler on Sunday with highs between 80 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

High pressure returns on Monday with sunshine and highs around 27 degrees. Tuesday and Wednesday will quickly warm up again with highs around 30 degrees. Next Wednesday, a cold front moving ashore will bring fresh winds of 20-25 mph east of the Cascades. The cold front will move across the region overnight, followed by an upper-level low pressure system on Thursday that could bring a scattered shower or two. The best chance is in the Cascades and Blues. Fresh to gusty winds will continue into next Friday, further increasing the fire danger.
