Fatal incident involving a train and a pedestrian in Kansas remains under investigation

SHAWNEE COUNTY – Police and railroad officials continue to investigate a fatal crash in Topeka.

Shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, a person was struck and killed by a Union Pacific train near N Kansas Ave and NE Norris Street, according to Union Pacific Lt. Meg Siffring.

No train crew were injured. Union Pacific is working with local authorities to determine what led to the incident. Train service resumed around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim’s name was not released.
