Father takes action after allegedly catching rideshare driver sexually abusing his daughter, authorities say

According to local authorities, a father stopped a ride-sharing driver on the Nisqually River in Washington state on Saturday morning who allegedly tried to sexually assault his daughter.

Deputies arrived at the scene after a firearms violation was reported, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) said in a news release. One of the officers observed a person fleeing the area in their vehicle.

When officers caught up with 58-year-old Ahmed Ali, they found he had sustained injuries. Authorities later discovered two bullet casings in the same area where the weapons violation was reported, the release said. (RELATED TOPIC: Illegal Uber driver charged with raping four women)

At that point, two detectives were assigned to the case and discovered that the ride-hailing driver was transporting an intoxicated woman. Her father said he arrived at the scene and found the driver allegedly sexually assaulting his daughter. An altercation ensued and shots were fired.

The ride-share driver was not hit by any of the shots, but the father told authorities that he “beat the driver up a little bit” and fired his gun, according to The Olympian.

Probable cause documents indicate that the father and other family members prevented the sexual assault by attacking the ride-hailing driver, according to a report from Fox 13 Seattle. Ali allegedly picked up the woman from a bar because she was too drunk to drive herself home. He is accused of manipulating the Uber app to make it look like he dropped her off before taking her to a remote location and raping her, the report said.

After becoming concerned about his daughter, the father tracked her location with his phone and found her naked in the back seat of the vehicle. When he arrived, Ali allegedly tried to get back into the front seat while pulling up his pants, according to Fox 13 Seattle. The victim’s family allegedly beat Ali.

The father “could potentially face charges in connection with the incident,” Lt. Mike Brooks told the Daily Caller.

“Once the investigation is complete, the documents will be forwarded to the prosecutor for review. However, there are no plans to arrest him or anything like that.”

The ride-share driver was taken to a nearby hospital and later arrested on charges of second-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping, the press release said.
