Man taken to hospital with serious injuries after incident with dog in Aberavon

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following an incident involving a dog in South Wales.

Police were called to Blair Way in Aberavon at around 7am this morning after a 24-year-old man was injured.

A dog, which was confirmed to be a “pit bull/staff mix,” was tranquilized by police and removed from the scene.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed that an ambulance was at the scene.

A South Wales Police spokesman said: “Officers responded to Blair Way, Aberavon, at around 7am this morning following a report of an incident between a man and a dog.”

“A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries.

“The dog was tranquilized and removed from the scene by the police dog squad.”

A spokesman for Wales Air Ambulance confirmed that they were responding to an incident in the region.

“Our crew based in Dafen was assigned and picked up by air at 7:30 a.m.,” they added.

“They arrived at the scene at 7:43 a.m. Our operation ended at 8:02 a.m.”

Police confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
