Gordon Ramsay shows gruesome bruises after ‘really bad’ bike accident

The 57-year-old presenter and restaurant owner, who hosts the program “Kitchen Nightmares,” shared photos of his torn clothes and crushed helmet while cycling in the US state of Connecticut.

In an Instagram video, he showed a bruise that apparently covered a large part of his chest.

“Hey guys, this is Gordon. I want to give you all a very important message,” Ramsay said with shaking hands.

“You know how much I love cycling, triathlons, Ironman races, etc. Unfortunately, this week I had a really bad accident that really shook me up. Honestly, I’m glad to be here.

“These incredible trauma surgeons, doctors and nurses in the hospitals have taken care of me this week. They have been amazing, but honestly, you have to wear a helmet.

“I don’t care how short the ride is. I don’t care… these helmets cost money, but they are essential. Even on short rides, kids have to wear a helmet now.

“I’m glad to be standing here. I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. And somehow I’m getting through it.”

Ramsay also captioned the post saying that he was “fine and didn’t break any bones or sustain any major injuries but did have a few bruises and looked like a purple potato.”

He added that he was treated at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Connecticut, and that the helmet “saved” his life.
