3 people attacked with baseball bat over drugs in Shasta County, suspect arrested

According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), a suspect was arrested after allegedly attacking three people with a baseball bat on Thursday.

Officers responded to a home in the 30,000 block of Bishops Wheel Drive in Montgomery Creek around 11:40 a.m. Thursday and found three people with head injuries.

A 66-year-old man was evaluated by first responders but refused treatment against medical advice, according to the SCSO. A 45-year-old man was taken to the hospital and was initially in critical condition but has since improved.

A 60-year-old woman was also injured, but officials said she left before officers arrived.

The suspect was identified as 29-year-old Blane Montgomery. The SCSO says he got into an argument with the woman after she refused to give him narcotics. Montgomery then armed himself with the baseball bat and struck the two men before running away, according to the sheriff’s office.

He was found in a home on Windy Point Road and arrested for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse and assault.
