Oklahoma City police search for suspect in fatal shooting in apartment

NOW WITH SOME NEW INFORMATION IMMEDIATELY ARRIVING FROM POLICE. THIS MURDER OCCURRED LAST NIGHT IN AN APARTMENT COMPLEX NEAR A BUSY REGIONAL AIRPORT. POLICE SAY SOME PEOPLE SAW A PERSON SHOT AND KILLED. ACCORDING TO WITNESSES, HE WAS JUST ABOUT TO WALK OUT THE DOOR. THE DOOR OPENS. SUSPECT FIRE IN THE AREA. THIS WAS JUST BEFORE 10:30 THURSDAY EVENING NEAR WILSHIRE AND LEAWOOD, EAST OF ROCKWELL. POLICE SAY THE SHOTS CAME FROM OUTSIDE THE APARTMENT. POLICE WERE ON SCENE WITH THEIR CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION UNIT TO INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT AND SPEAKED WITH THE PEOPLE WHO WERE INSIDE THE APARTMENT WHEN THE SHOTS WERE FIRED. THE VICTIM WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL WHERE HE DIED. THEY ARE NOT SURE IF THERE IS A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE SUSPECT AND THE VICTIM AND AT THIS TIME THERE IS NO ARREST AND NO INFORMATION ON THIS SUSPECT IN

The shooting occurred just before 10:30 p.m. at an apartment complex on Knight Lake Drive, which is near Wilshire Boulevard and Rockwell Avenue. Police said the shots were fired from outside the apartment. Officers and crime scene investigators spoke to people who were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting. “According to witnesses, he was just about to walk out the door. Police are searching for a suspect following a fatal shooting late Thursday night at an apartment complex in northwest Oklahoma City.

The shooting occurred just before 10:30 p.m. at an apartment complex on Knight Lake Drive, near Wilshire Boulevard and Rockwell Avenue. Police said the shots were fired from outside the apartment.

Officers and forensic investigators spoke to people who were in the apartment at the time of the shooting.

“According to witnesses, he was just about to walk out the door. The door opened and the suspect fired one shot,” said Lt. Jeff Cooper of the Oklahoma City Police Department.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, according to police. Information about the victim has not been released.

Police have not arrested anyone in connection with the fatal shooting and have no information about the suspect.
