New scam trying to steal your money! Be alert!

Text messaging has become the preferred method of scamming people for money. And now texters are impersonating someone you know and trust, like your pastor.

There have been several people who have been contacted by their “pastor” asking them for gift cards or money when in reality it was a scammer.

Unfortunately, this is becoming more common. The Better Business Bureau recommends that if you receive a questionable text message, contact the person and ask if it was them. Also pay attention to where the text is coming from. Many fraudulent text messages come from the 573 area code.
