1 dead, 1 injured in Dallas shooting after ongoing feud – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

According to Dallas police, an ongoing feud between three young men ended in a shootout that left one dead and another injured.

The suspected shooter is in jail on $1 million bail.

The shooting occurred on June 11 at around 10:40 p.m. in the 400 block of South Winnetka Avenue in Oak Cliff.

A hail of bullets and speeding cars woke up the neighbors in the normally quiet area.

Darin Short and Wayne Brown were looking after a friend’s house.

“I was fast asleep when all of a sudden I heard ten loud bangs, like bang! bang! bang! bang,” Short said. “I knew they were gunshots. It sounded like they were on our porch.”

Police found 23-year-old Stephano Osorio shot dead at the crime scene.

A 16-year-old boy who was with him was also shot and taken to the hospital, where his condition was last considered stable, according to the DPD.

Osorio’s family says he just celebrated his 23rd birthdayrd Birthday last month.

He also attended El Centro College, where he studied architecture.

Detectives later identified and arrested the suspected shooter, 20-year-old Salvador Martinez.

Martinez is now charged with murder and his bail is set at one million dollars.

DPD and the victim’s family say there was an ongoing feud between the victims and Martinez.

Osorio’s father said they called police after their house was shot at, but were told there was not enough evidence to arrest anyone.

Short also heard from other neighbors that there had been an ongoing feud between those involved and could not imagine any explanation for such violence.

“It’s just stupid for kids to own guns. There’s no excuse for that,” he said. “Society needs to change, that’s all.”
