Clay County man faces sexual abuse charges

CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – A Manchester man was taken to jail after police say he attempted to sexually assault a minor.

Officials with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call on Tuesday.

When officers arrived at the hospital, a woman told police that her daughter had been sexually abused.

After the police took the woman’s statement, they also learned that Johnny Johnson had gone to a store with the minor to buy an e-cigarette.

After Johnson and the minor left the store, Johnson took the minor to Cotton Bend Road, where he attempted to sexually assault her.

Johnson was charged with first-degree sexual abuse.

He was taken to the Clay County Detention Center.
