BJP member Amit Malviya accused of ‘sexual misconduct’

Kolkata: The Congress on Monday demanded the sacking of BJP’s IT chief Amit Malviya after an RSS member made allegations of sexual misconduct against him.

According to reports, it came to light that RSS member Santanu Sinha, brother of BJP leader Rahul Sinha, had made allegations of sexual misconduct against Amit Malviya. In response, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate on Monday demanded the immediate removal of Malviya as head of the BJP’s IT department.

Shrinate said at a press conference, “RSS member Santanu Sinha, a relative of BJP leader Rahul Sinha, has said that BJP’s IT chief Amit Malviya is involved in nefarious activities. He is involved in sexual exploitation of women.

Not only in 5-star hotels but also in BJP offices in Bengal. The only thing we demand from BJP is justice for women.” Trinamool Congress MP Sushmita Dev reacted to the issue and wrote on X: “Those who have lectured us on the allegations against Sandeshkhali should first start by suspending the accused.”

Another TMC leader, Arup Chakraborty, wrote on X: “Modi’s @BJP4India has given shelter to a number of sexual predators like @amitmalviya. Sensational claims by a Sangh member that a leader who is part of Modi’s team has sexually abused women not only in five-star hotels but also in his party office. Modi’s BJP is a disgrace!”

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Malviya has demanded an unconditional apology from RSS member Santanu Sinha.

On June 8, he sent Sinha a legal notice demanding that he remove the “false and derogatory” post. According to a news agency, the legal notice read: “The nature of the allegations is extremely offensive as they falsely accuse my client of sexual misconduct.”

The same is a fatal injury to the dignity and reputation of my client, who is a public figure due to his professional profile. Such malicious statements were made intentionally to

his reputation.”
