Michigan deputy sheriff suspended from baseball coaching job

Hastings High School’s athletic director said Jason Sixberry was suspended from coaching after parents raised complaints about him.

HASTINGS, Michigan — Hastings High School’s baseball coach has been suspended after parents raised concerns, the school’s athletic director said Wednesday.

Jason Sixberry, also a Barry County sheriff’s deputy, just finished the boys’ baseball season.

Hastings High School Athletic Director Mike Goggins confirmed to 13 ON YOUR SIDE that some concerns were raised by parents and that the district suspended Coach Sixberry to investigate the complaints.

Goggins did not disclose the reason for his concerns, but said that at first glance there was no evidence of any danger to students or illegal activity.

Because of the suspension, Sixberry missed several practices and his team’s district tournament on Saturday.

MLive reports that Sixberry is also on leave from the Barry County Sheriff’s Office.
