37-year-old motorcyclist killed in collision with guardrail on Highway 50 in Cameron Park, CHP says

According to the California Highway Patrol, a man died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 50 in Cameron Park on Monday.

The motorcyclist was traveling eastbound in the car pool lane on the highway west of Cameron Park Drive around 6:30 p.m. when he lost control of the motorcycle, said Officer Andrew Brown, a spokesman for the CHP’s Placerville office. The driver and his 2021 Honda collided with the metal guardrail in the center divider and were ejected, he said. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Paramedics pronounced the man – a 37-year-old El Dorado resident – dead at the scene, Brown said. The man’s identity is expected to be released by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office once family members are notified of his death.

While the CHP is still investigating the accident, Brown said alcohol or drugs did not play a role.

Anyone with information about the fatal accident is asked to call the CHP Placerville office at 530-748-2450.
