Worker dies in suspected electrical accident in Pickering

PICKERING, ONT. – A worker died at a construction site on Kingston Road in Pickering, Ontario, on May 29 after apparently coming into contact with power lines.

A 911 call was made around 2 p.m. indicating that a worker had fallen after coming into contact with wires, a source with Pickering emergency services said. A spokesperson for Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development said the worker was employed by Wildcats Building Services Inc.

The worker’s condition was initially unclear, but the ministry confirmed the worker’s death the next day.

Two inspectors and an engineer from the ministry visited the project on the afternoon of May 29. An order was issued to the employer and the ministry’s investigation is ongoing.
