Florida woman allegedly tried to sell her daughter for $20: Police

A Florida woman faces multiple felony charges after police say she attempted to sell her 10-year-old daughter to a woman for $20 and later offered her for sex to a man for $5.

According to Jacksonville police, a kindergarten teacher reported that she was dropping off food at a homeless shelter when the 32-year-old suspect approached her and said, “Take her, give me $20 and you can have her.”

Investigators then spoke to a man who said the same woman offered her daughter sex for $5. He only reported the case to police when officers approached him, police said.

To protect the child’s identity, USA TODAY is not releasing the mother’s name.
