Murder-suicide suspected after two people found dead in retirement home

SANTEE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) – Authorities on Tuesday determined the deaths of two elderly adults found dead in their home at a senior living facility in Santee over the weekend were a murder-suicide.

David Soulner, 82, and his wife Claire Soulner, 79, were identified as the dead, Lt. Michael Krugh of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.


Authorities received a call around 11:25 a.m. Sunday about two elderly adults dead in their home in the 300 block of Lantern Crest Way.

Autopsy reports revealed that both had died from gunshot wounds.

According to authorities, investigators believe David Soulner shot Claire and then turned the gun on himself.
