Brandon McManus denies sexually harassing two women on a Jaguars flight, while the NFL star’s angry lawyers claim the allegations are a “blackmail attempt”

Brandon McManus’ legal team has vehemently denied allegations that the NFL star sexually harassed two women during his time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, insisting their client was the victim of an “extortion attempt.”

Two women are suing the Jaguars and their former kicker because they accuse him of sexually harassing them on a team flight to London last year.

“To be clear, these are absolutely fabricated and demonstrably false allegations that are part of a campaign to defame and disparage a talented and respected NFL player,” McManus’ attorneys Brett R. Gallaway, a partner at McLaughlin & Stern, said in a statement.

“We intend to vigorously defend Brandon’s rights and integrity and clear his name by exposing these allegations as what they really are – an extortion attempt.”

ESPN reported that the women – whose identities are unknown – are seeking more than $1 million and demanding a jury trial.

They claim that McManus, 32, rubbed and squeezed against them. They also claim that the Jaguars failed to supervise their players and provide a safe environment for the staff who support the team.

The Jags played two games in London during the 2023 season, on October 1 against the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley and on October 8 against the Buffalo Bills at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. McManus played in both.

The kicker was not re-signed by the team at the end of last season and has since signed a one-year, $3.6 million contract with the Washington Commanders.

In a statement on Monday, a Commanders spokesperson said: “We were notified earlier today of the civil lawsuit filed against Brandon McManus on May 24. We take allegations of this nature very seriously and are investigating the matter.”

“We have communicated with the league office and Brandon’s representative and will refrain from making any further comments at this time.”

In response to media inquiries, the Jaguars initially refused to comment, but then issued a statement of their own: “We are aware of the complaint and recognize the significance of the allegations.”

“As we continue to investigate the matter, it must be emphasized that we insist on an organization built by people who represent our community and our game with the highest character and class.”

According to the lawsuit, the Jaguars flew to the United Kingdom on a charter flight operated by Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings on September 28, 2023, and the two women worked as flight attendants for the team.

They claim the trip “quickly turned into a party” and that McManus and several other players “disregarded the privacy of flight attendants, flight safety and federal law.”

One of the women – identified only as Jane Doe I – accuses McManus of trying to kiss her in her seat during a period of turbulence and of rubbing himself against her twice while she was serving food to passengers.

The second woman – Jane Doe II – claims that McManus rubbed himself against her while she was serving the second of the flight’s two meals before confronting him – at which point he “grinned and walked away.”

The Jaguars, owned by Shad Khan, are also being sued by the women for failing to supervise McManus and create a safe environment for the staff who support the team.

Doe I also claims that during the first alleged assault, she made eye contact with another Jaguars player who “appeared embarrassed by McManus’ behavior.”

Doe II also claims that when the team returned to the United States from London after the two games, she “stayed on the second floor of the plane to avoid McManus.”

The lawsuit states that the two women experienced severe mental anguish, fear, psychological and emotional stress, embarrassment and humiliation.

Last season, the NFL star earned $2 million in his one-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars after being released by the Denver Broncos.

In 2023, he converted 30 of his 37 field goal attempts and all 35 of his extra point attempts.
