Reliant and Houston Texans honor high school seniors with $60,000 scholarships

HOUSTON (KIAH) – May is graduation season. Congratulations to the Class of Spring 2024. Six outstanding Houston area high school seniors were each surprised with a $10,000 scholarship through Reliant’s Champions Scholarships. NRG has partnered with the Houston Texans to honor these student-athletes who have balanced their sports and academics.

Six students from Northbrook, Sweeny, Foster, Furr, Seven Lakes and Hempstead high schools joined the Houston Texans for the day, observing their daily operations, before being surprised by this big check. Leanne Schneider, senior director of community relations at Reliant, said the company was moved by “the resilience, dedication and unwavering commitment of students on the field, in the classroom and in their community.”

Since 2005, Reliant, now known as NRG, and the Houston Texans have supported more than 100 area high school students with more than $600,000 in scholarships. Learn about the honorees below, including their commitments to the community and academic excellence, courtesy of Reliant.
