Man arrested for raping married woman

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A man allegedly raped a married woman, an employee of a private hospital in Bairagarh, on Thursday evening on the pretext of leaving her home, police said on Friday after registering the case and arresting the accused. TI Neeraj Verma of Khajuri Sadak police station told Free Press that the surviving woman (29) was a resident of a village near Bhopal. She used to work in a private hospital in the city.

She met Dilip Sondhiya, whom she used to consider as her brother. When she left the hospital on Thursday evening and headed to her village, Sondhiya offered to take her home on his bike. When the woman agreed, Sondhia instead took her to another village and raped her. When she protested, he threatened the woman with dire consequences. The surviving woman told her husband about her ordeal on Friday, following which she lodged a complaint at the Khajuri Sadak police station and the Dhamnia police arrested her within a short time.

Four held in car for betting on IPL

The Crime Branch on Friday arrested four men who were placing bets on IPL 2024 cricket matches in a car parked in Mangalwara district, officials said. Police seized cash worth Rs 95,000 from their possession, as well as seven mobile phones and the car in which they had placed bets. Additional DCP (Crime) Shailendra Singh Chouhan told Free Press that the Crime Branch received a tip-off on Friday that several men were in a hatchback car parked opposite Hotel Lakshmi Vilas in Mangalwara and were placing bets on cricket matches.

The team rushed to the spot and questioned the suspects, who identified themselves as Badal Jain, Mohit Yadav, Pawan Nath and Anmol Rathore, all residents of Mangalwara. When the team checked their mobile phones, it found several cricket betting applications and websites where the accused had logged into their accounts and placed bets, Chouhan said. All were arrested by the team.
