Storms destroy tire store northwest of Houston

Strong storms swept through Houston on Thursday, leaving behind a devastating path of destruction.

A family business along Bingle Road has been reduced to rubble.

The owner of Eden’s Tire Shop was forced to take shelter when the storms hit. He hid under tires as the store collapsed. The tires were hit and he survived.

Police said this section of Spring Branch was the hardest hit they had ever seen. The corrugated iron roof was rolled up and the steel frame also collapsed, blocking Bingle. Downed utility poles and power lines also lined the streets.

Downed trees also littered the area.

Additionally, a postal truck was overturned with the worker inside. Fortunately, everything was fine and she returned to the post office. They will return Friday to help clean up.

The destruction in northwest Houston is a reminder of how powerful Mother Nature can be.
