Wes Atherton, 36, has died after suffering a serious brain injury while on holiday in Turkey

Atherton was being treated in hospital for brain damage as his family flew to Turkey to seek support, reports the Warrington Guardian.

However, the father of two died from his injuries, the family said in a tragic online post.

A fundraiser has now been set up on JustGiving for the British father to bring his body home as his family faces a “living nightmare”.

Atherton’s wife said in the post that her “life has changed forever.”

“I lost the other half of me and my daughters lost their amazing father.

“I would type forever trying to put into words how much we love you and miss you and how much you mean to us, you are our world Wes and life will never be the same,” the post reads further.

A target of £10,000 has been set to cover medical bills and bring Atherton’s body back.

The campaign has raised more than £6,440 as of this morning.

Close friends and family paid tribute to the “loving” father and said they couldn’t have asked for a better person in their lives.

One person wrote on Facebook: “I cannot express the void that the loss of you has left in our lives.”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better big brother. I miss you so much. You will be loved forever, Wes Atherton.”
