9-year-old among four dead after crash in Orangeburg County

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Authorities have identified the four people who died in a traffic accident in Orangeburg County on Tuesday. One of the victims was just 9 years old.

Tryphena Carr, 31, and Ariyana Lawton, 9, both of St. Matthews, and Dennis Crosby, 65, and Regins Lyons, 59, both of Cordova, were killed in the crash along U.S. 21, according to the Orangeburg coroner’s office County, Samuetta Marshall.

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers said the crash happened around 7:46 a.m. Tuesday on US-21 at Waterspring Road, nearly four miles north of Orangeburg.

According to police, the driver of a pickup truck and a Nissan were traveling south on US-21. An Audi traveling north on US 21 collided with the Nissan Murano. The pickup then also collided with the Murano.

The Audi and the Nissan Murano both had two occupants, and all four died at the scene, according to police. The one occupant of the pickup was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
